Thailand: its culture, its language and its food

 

Do you want to share the everyday life of the Thai, to discover their language and their gastronomy? This cultural holiday will awaken your curiosity. Exceptional visits are also planned as the famous Buddhist temple Wat Phranon Jaksi, the ancient capital of Ayutthaya or the musuem and the pagoda of Lopburi.  

 

The main objective of the project

The objective is to allow you, over a short period, to discover the specifities of the culture and the codes of the Thai society. You will be introduced to things "to do or not to do" which will allow you to understand better your hosts.

 

Housing 

The complex is located by the river Noi in the village of Tha Kham, near the city of Singburi. All the rooms are to be shared, with at the most 4 people, and are quite equipped.

During your stay in Thailand, we propose you various activities allowing you to discover various facets of Thailand, to help you in your immersion in the Siam culture:

  • Tour of the city of Singburi.
  • Meal in a typical restaurant.
  • Language classes.
  • Traditional dances show.
  • Visit of Ayutthaya, registered of the UNESCO world heritage.
  • Visit of the village of the elephants.
  • Cooking classes.
  • Visits of temples.

 

Discover Singburi and its region during your stay in Thailand

The village of Tha Kham is located in about 10 kilometers of the city of Singburi, easily accessible by bus or in taxi. Singburi is a picturesque city of 20,000 inhabitants, located in 142 km in the North of Bangkok. It was established in the prehistoric period, under the reign of King Rama V. The province of Singburi occupies at present a 841.40 square kilometer surface and is divided into 6 districts.

Dates of stay and organization
  • You will be greeted on a Sunday at Bangkok International Airport and accompanied to the welcome centre of our partner in the region of Singburi.
  • In the village the closest to the center, accessible on foot, you will find cash withdrawals, a pharmacy, a doctor, stores and you will discover the local food markets.
  • The planning of the activities is organized from Monday morning till Saturday, after the breakfast. After the breakfast on Saturday, you can be taken back in Bangkok to join the airport or stay for an additional week. You can take advantage of the weekend to visit one of the remarkable sites of the surroundings or a big city.
Your registration

Cost:

  • 185€ per week + 150€ administrative fees per registration
  • You can register for as many weeks as you wish. The administrative fee are only due once.


Conditions for eligibility:

  • To be over 18 years of age on the date of departure
  • To have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months after your return

Visa, currency and time difference
  • Thai currency: Baht - THB 1 euro = 34.99 Bahts (฿) (as of 01 April 2015)
  • Time difference: + 6 hours during the winter, + 5 hours during the summer
  • *Information on visas: for a stay of less than 30 days, no visa is required. Once on-site, it is possible to extend the visa for another 30 days (once)​.
